In a single week that June, Google counted 316 distinct threat clusters routing traffic through suspected NetNut exit nodes. Alarum disputes the research and says it will cooperate with law enforcement; none of the allegations has been tested in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six months earlier, in January 2026, the same team disrupted IPIDEA, at the time one of the largest residential networks on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One detail from Google&#8217;s disclosure matters more to buyers than the takedown itself: NetNut capacity was widely resold and white-labelled by other proxy providers. A team that never signed a NetNut contract could still have been running on NetNut exit nodes through a vendor with a different logo. Static ISP addresses are available in 17 countries, including the US, UK, Japan, Singapore, Israel, Hong Kong, Brazil, Canada, Poland and Romania. Alongside those sit dedicated IPv4 in about two dozen countries from $1.47 per IP a month, shared IPv4 from $0.67, premium residential IPv4 in Russia and Poland at $3.60, IPv6 from $0.13, and mobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two design decisions stand out to anyone who has run a crawler. Rotation is timer-based and configurable from 2 to 60 minutes rather than fixed per request, which suits long paginated collection where an identity should survive a session but not a shift. And residential traffic is sold in 30, 60 and 90-day blocks instead of resetting on a monthly boundary, so a quarterly research pull does not have to be squeezed into one billing cycle or bought twice. You can store up to 100 saved parameter sets, which is the practical difference between one gateway and a hand-maintained list of endpoints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Onboarding is the other argument. Signup is self-serve with no corporate KYC interview, and payment runs through Stripe, USDT on TRC20, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Alipay and UPI. For a two-person team in a market where Bright Data gates production access behind a human-reviewed company check, that is frequently the deciding factor rather than a nice extra. Support will issue a test proxy on request, which is worth using before any purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where it loses, and it does lose. The ISP plan authenticates by username and password only, with no IP allowlisting, so it will not work on hardware that cannot pass credentials, and the vendor&#8217;s own page says so plainly along with known problems on Binance and WhatsApp. At $2.50 per IP the static pool also costs roughly eight times Webshare&#8217;s entry rate. If you need ASN-level targeting or an auditable supply chain for a compliance review, Oxylabs or Decodo is the better answer and I would not argue otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"decodo-the-value-pick-with-a-compliance-record-somebody-else-has-checked\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Decodo: the value pick with a compliance record somebody else has checked<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decodo is the former Smartproxy, renamed on 22 April 2025 with accounts, endpoints and billing carried over unchanged. If you find an old Smartproxy price quoted in a comparison, it is stale by more than a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pricing is the cleanest published ladder in the market: $11.25 a month for 3 GB, $35 for 10 GB, $275 for 100 GB, and $2.00 to $2.50 per GB on enterprise tiers between 250 GB and 1 TB. Pay-as-you-go is $4.00 per GB. Every one of those figures excludes VAT, which is not a footnote at small volumes. At 10 GB, a 20% VAT rate lifts the $35 plan to $42 and pushes it above Bright Data&#8217;s $40 pay-as-you-go. At 100 GB the same VAT still leaves Decodo ahead, $330 against $400. The crossover sits between those two points, so run your own number before assuming Decodo is cheaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is an EWDCI co-founder with a published sourcing policy, targeting reaches ZIP code and ASN, and there is a 3-day free trial plus a 14-day money-back window on eligible plans. Decodo also actively blocks high-risk targets such as banking and ticketing under its security policy, which is a feature if you are doing legitimate collection and a wall if you are not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The catch to read before signing: on dedicated ISP proxies, concurrent threads drop from up to 2,000 to 10 once an IP passes 100 GB in a billing cycle, and again across the subscription at 10 TB. Teams pulling full product pages with images hit that ceiling faster than they expect, and it is invisible until throughput collapses mid-crawl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"bright-data-the-largest-pool-and-the-longest-onboarding\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Bright Data: the largest pool, and the longest onboarding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bright Data claims more than 400 million residential addresses across 195 countries, which is the biggest number anyone publishes. Proxyway&#8217;s 2026 market research puts the company at roughly $300 million annualised revenue growing about 50% year over year on AI-driven demand, so the network is not going anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published pricing is $4.00 per GB pay-as-you-go with no commitment, $499 a month for 141 GB ($3.50\/GB), and $1,999 a month for 798 GB ($2.50\/GB). The pay-as-you-go rate is displayed as 50% off an $8.00 list price. Treat a struck-through list price as renewal risk to budget for rather than a discount you have already banked; if the promotion lapses your unit cost doubles overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real cost is the gate, not the rate. Production access to the residential network requires passing a human-reviewed KYC that can include a corporate email domain check, an introductory video call and government ID. For an agency with a registered entity that is a week of paperwork. For a solo developer or an unregistered team it is often a hard no, and no comparison table will fix that. It is EWDCI certified and publishes an acquisition handbook describing how addresses enter the pool, which is the most detailed sourcing documentation any provider here offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pricing is subscription-first and there is no published pay-as-you-go rate. The ladder runs $30 a month for 5 GB, $100 for 20 GB, $500 for 125 GB and $2,500 for 1 TB. That headline $2.50 per GB only applies if you actually consume the full terabyte. Consume half and you paid $5.00. This is the single most common budgeting error in the category, and Figure 2 below shows what it looks like on a chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The awkward zone is 10 GB a month. The $30 Starter plan caps at 5 GB, so covering 10 GB at published rates means buying the 20 GB Basic plan and using half of it, which works out at $10.00 per GB. Top-ups exist on every tier but the top-up rate is not published, so it cannot be compared honestly. In early 2026 Oxylabs moved dedicated ISP proxies into self-service, starting at $16 for 10 IPs across 17 countries, which is a meaningful shift for smaller buyers who previously had to talk to sales. Work the arithmetic for a workload that runs quarterly rather than monthly: 10 GB every three months costs $55.10 once on IPRoyal and you draw it down over as long as you like, against $35 every month on a Decodo plan you use a third of, which is $105 a quarter. For seasonal price monitoring, periodic market research or an ad verification sweep that runs four times a year, the expensive gigabyte is the economical one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sourcing is disclosed: IPRoyal names Pawns.app as its supply application and publishes the per-GB payment made to suppliers. The static ISP product is the better-regarded half of the lineup, running roughly $1.80 to $2.70 per IP with unlimited bandwidth for the lease term and leases available at 1, 30, 60 and 90 days across 30-plus countries, though individual cities go out of stock. Two frictions worth knowing before you commit: KYC through iDenfy is mandatory for static ISP, and there is no standard free trial, with the vendor&#8217;s own FAQ pointing buyers at the 1 GB minimum purchase instead. Refunds apply only when the failure is on IPRoyal&#8217;s side and are reported within 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"data-impulse-the-lowest-published-rate-below-150-gb\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">DataImpulse: the lowest published rate below 150 GB<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A flat $1.00 per GB at every volume up to 1,000 GB, with no tier ladder to climb and no monthly reset to race, on traffic that never expires. Below 150 GB nothing else published in this market comes close. The pool is stated at more than 90 million addresses across 195 countries, and premium residential is a separate $5.00 per GB line, dropping to $4.00 from 1,000 GB. Datacenter runs $0.50 per GB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watch the two minimums, because they are easy to miss. The first purchase is a $5 intro block, but every top-up after that starts at $50. For a team spending $12 a month, that changes the shape of the commitment considerably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On sourcing, DataImpulse sits in the middle. It names its supply application, TraffMonetizer, and states that suppliers are paid $0.10 per GB, which is more disclosure than SOAX or Thordata offers. It is not an EWDCI member, publishes no independent audit, and has not rebutted a third-party measurement finding that roughly one address in eight in its US residential pool resolves to a server rather than a home connection. If your compliance review requires an answer somebody outside the vendor has verified, that gap will matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"webshare-the-smallest-possible-starting-spend\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Webshare: the smallest possible starting spend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Webshare runs a permanently free plan of 10 proxies with 1 GB of monthly bandwidth and no credit card, which makes it the cheapest way in the market to find out whether your target list even needs residential addresses. Datacenter plans start around $2.99 a month for 100 proxies, static ISP from about $0.30 per proxy, and residential is advertised from $1.40 per GB across a pool of 80 million-plus addresses in 195 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advertised residential rates for Webshare vary widely across third-party comparisons, from $0.99 to $3.50 per GB depending on which promotion was live when the page was written. Check the current dashboard price rather than any review, including this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The limitations are structural rather than commercial. Bandwidth must be consumed within the billing month, so nothing rolls over. ZIP and ASN targeting are listed as coming soon rather than shipped. There are no mobile proxies. And the residential pool skews thin outside Tier 1 geographies, so a job that works cleanly against US and German targets can degrade noticeably in secondary markets. Webshare is a generalist, and on hardened targets a provider that does nothing but residential will usually return a better success rate for the same money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"node-maven-a-smaller-pool-filtered-before-it-reaches-you\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">NodeMaven: a smaller pool, filtered before it reaches you<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2022, NodeMaven built its product around the observation that pool size is a vanity metric when most of the addresses in a large peer-to-peer network are already flagged. It publishes about 30 million residential and 100 million-plus mobile addresses across 195 countries, which is small next to Bright Data, and claims its filtering rejects around 99.5% of low-quality addresses before they reach a customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residential starts at about $3.50 per GB on volume plans, roughly in line with Decodo and well under the enterprise pair. The distinguishing feature is session length: sticky windows up to 24 hours, among the longest available, with city-level targeting and native integrations for antidetect environments including Multilogin, AdsPower and GoLogin. For work where an identity has to persist across a long session rather than rotate, that combination is the reason to look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The filtering claim is the company&#8217;s own and no independent audit backs the 99.5% figure, so treat it as a positioning statement rather than a measurement. The small pool is also a genuine constraint at volume: heavy rotating collection against a narrow set of targets will recycle addresses faster than it would on a 175 million-address network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"soax-strong-targeting-thin-disclosure\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">SOAX: strong targeting, thin disclosure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOAX sells credits rather than gigabytes, which makes direct comparison harder than it should be. The $0 Sandbox plan runs $5.00 per GB plus VAT; $200 a month buys 200 credits, about 66.67 GB at roughly $3.00 per GB; $500 buys about 227 GB at $2.20; and $1,500 gets you close to a terabyte at $1.50. Credits roll over for 60 days, or 365 days on annual billing, which is more generous than the monthly-reset model most competitors use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Targeting is a real strength: country, region, city, ISP and ASN on residential, carrier-level on mobile, with HTTP(S), SOCKS5, UDP and QUIC support and per-request rotation. The pool is claimed at 155 million-plus addresses, although vendor figures quoted elsewhere run higher, which is a reminder that none of these counts is audited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is disclosure. At the URLs checked in July 2026, SOAX published no IP sourcing policy and no KYC policy. In a year that has seen two major residential networks seized, an undocumented supply chain is a business continuity question rather than a philosophical one. If your only variable is sticker price at volume, Thordata wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two things undercut that. The pricing page states no validity period at all, and the vendor confirmed by email in August 2026 that packages last one month with extensions granted on request. An undertaking given over email is not a published term, so the $0.65 per GB top tier is really a rate you have thirty days to consume five terabytes against. And Thordata declines to document how its residential addresses are sourced, citing confidentiality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Package granularity is the other practical annoyance. There is no 100 GB or 500 GB step, so covering 500 GB through a single package means buying the terabyte at $730 and using half of it, an effective $1.46 per GB. Stacking a 350 GB and a 150 GB package is cheaper at $430, but both inherit the same one-month clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"rayobyte-us-focused-static-isp-on-an-annual-commitment\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Rayobyte: US-focused static ISP on an annual commitment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rayobyte publishes an ethics position and runs about 40 million residential addresses, which is on the small side, with residential rates advertised from roughly $0.50 per GB. Its recognisable product is static ISP: around $1.35 per IP a month on an annual commitment, rising toward $5.00 on monthly billing, with unlimited bandwidth and free IP replacement through the dashboard when a subnet gets flagged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That replacement policy is genuinely useful and rarely offered. The constraint is geography. Static ISP covers six countries, which is the narrowest coverage in Table 2 and rules Rayobyte out for anything that needs European depth or APAC presence. For US-only account infrastructure on a twelve-month horizon, the annual rate is hard to beat. For anything else, IPRoyal&#8217;s 30-plus countries or Oxylabs&#8217; 17 will serve better even at a higher unit price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"net-nut-listed-for-completeness-not-as-an-option\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">NetNut: listed for completeness, not as an option<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NetNut sold rotating residential, static ISP and datacenter proxies and was, until July, a credible enterprise name with roughly 85 million rotating addresses and over a million static ISP IPs, one of the largest static pools anywhere. Rates ran from about $4.50 per GB on entry plans down toward $1.59 at enterprise volume, with no pay-as-you-go option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 2 July 2026 the FBI seized its domains. Google&#8217;s analysis identified NetNut botnet plugin components associated with Badbox 2.0, and researchers at Qurium, Synthient, Nokia Deepfield and Spur separately documented Mirai variants running on the same hardware. In a controlled test, Synthient reported that traffic sent into NetNut&#8217;s commercial gateway exited through a device it had itself enrolled in the Popa botnet. Alarum called the findings inaccurate and flawed deductions rather than verified facts, and said it would cooperate fully with law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The buyer takeaway is not about NetNut. Google noted that its capacity was widely resold and white-labelled, and that when one network degrades, operators buy capacity from competitors and effectively become resellers. Ask any prospective vendor, in writing, whether it operates its own exit-node network or resells another provider&#8217;s. A vendor that will not answer that question in writing has answered it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Figure 1. Cloudflare&#8217;s current bot model scores the TLS handshake through JA3 and JA4 fingerprints, the HTTP\/2 SETTINGS frame order, the header order and the browser fingerprint alongside the IP address. A clean residential address carrying a default headless Chromium fingerprint fails a hardened target at a rate that has nothing to do with where the address came from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diagnostic is cheap. Send the same URL through three pools simultaneously and compare status codes, not aggregate success rates. If all three fail identically, the IP is not the variable and buying a fourth provider off any best 12 residential proxy in 2026 shortlist will not help. Decodo, to its credit, publishes the fact that dedicated ISP concurrency drops from up to 2,000 threads to 10 after 100 GB per IP in a billing cycle. It is documented, and it is still a surprise to most buyers who meet it mid-crawl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"when-switching-provider-is-actually-justified\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">When switching provider is actually justified<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three situations justify the migration cost, which is rarely under a day of engineering. Your provider&#8217;s sourcing cannot be documented, which after the NetNut seizure is a business continuity issue and not an ethics debate. Your workload changed shape, most often from rotating collection to persistent sessions across many profiles, and you are now paying per gigabyte for something a fixed address does better and cheaper. Or you have crossed a tier boundary and your effective rate has quietly moved in the wrong direction, which Figure 2 shows happens without any change in the published list price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the second case is yours, the switch is usually within a provider rather than between them. Running rotating traffic and static ISP addresses on separate accounts doubles the credential surface and turns cost attribution into guesswork. Consolidating them is the main practical argument for the top entry in this ranking, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/proxys.io\/en\/residential\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Proxys.io residential proxy plans<\/a> page shows both product lines and their rotation settings side by side, which is the comparison to make before committing traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One closing recommendation, and it is the least glamorous item in this entire piece.
